Obituary For Julia Ford

Ms. Julia Chambers Ford was born November 13, 1939 in Russell County, Alabama.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. EST, Friday, November 29, 2019 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.

Ms. Ford was the seventh of nine children born to the union of the late Junior and Julia Brown Chambers. She was preceded in death by five brothers- Wilson, Robert, James, Eddie, Milton; and two sisters, Bernice Davis and Leola Bivens.

Julia was converted at the early age of 12 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the late Rev. J. C. Cook, whom she dearly loved along with his wife Bessie. This couple played a great role in shaping Julia's spiritual walk. While under their ministry at Greater Mt. Zion, she was a part of the Sunday School, Junior choir, Junior Mission, Sunbeam Choir, B.T.U., Winston Goggins Gospel Choir, Deacon's Wives, and Sunday School Primary class teacher. She was a licensed, ordained minister who was full of the life and love of God. She graduated from South Girard School in 1958 and was the first in her family to attend/graduate from college (The Alabama State University). She was employed by the Phenix City School system as a First Grade teacher most of her career. She, also, taught English as a 2nd language to Soldiers on Ft. Benning and worked as a Nanny/Childcare worker/Elderly caregiver. She was always giving herself away to others. She was a member of the South Girard Alumni Association & the Alabama State Alumni Association.

She was married 34 years to the wonderful John Ford, Jr. To that union was born John Ford, III (Monica) and Vanessa Raymona Ford. She has four grandchildren - Micheal Andre Estell, Jr; Briana J. Ford, Byron J. Ford and Brandi J. Ford. She has a host of nieces, nephews that she loved dearly and many friends that she held dear to her heart.
