Obituary For Dorothy Beam

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Ross Beam, the fourth of seven children, was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, on June 22, 1947, to the late Rev. and Mrs. Annie Mae Peeler Ross. She departed this left on November 29, 2019 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, NC.

She attended Douglas High School and left school to work where she met the love of her life, Samuel Elam Beam, in the cotton field. They married in May, 1968 and from that union five children were born: Franklin Lee Ross, John Daniel Ross, Samuel Edward Beam, Quinton Tyrone Beam, and Dorothea Ann Beam “Tina”. Although she gave birth to five, she was a mother to many.

Mrs. Beam worked all her life retiring at Bike Athletic Company in Cherryville, NC. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age always testifying if it had not been for the Lord who was on my side, where would I be, given her testimony, she would seal it with a shout, glory hallelujah. The Lord’s Prayer, Matthew 6:9-13 was her favorite scripture and lived her life on those principles and condition of this prayer.

Mrs. Beam was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church where she served as an usher and on the culinary committee when possible. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Darvin and Annie Mae Peeler Ross, daughter, Dorthea Ann Beam, “Tina”, brothers: Darvin Ross Jr., W.J. Ross, Samuel Ross, and Larry Finney; and sister Minister Annie Mae “Genell” Ross Beam.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory husband of 53-years, Samuel E. Beam, four sons: Franklin Ross (Georgette), John Ross, Samuel Beam (Charlotte), Tyrone Beam (Sherry); four sisters: Rose Dawkins, Sally Scott, Lola Surratt (Michael), and Brenda Roberts (Danny); four brothers: Willie James Finney, Sam Finney (Linda), Thomas Finney, and Jerry Finney; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews who loved and adored her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Lawndale. Burial will take place at Community Baptist Church cemetery in Lawndale, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your special loved one! The Beam Family have my deepest condolences and prayers! Mrs.Dorothy Lee Ross Beam was so blessed and loved by many of people! I met her 34 yrs ago and will never ever forget the love she had showed me all of those years ago! She was such an inspiration to me and one of the greatest Christian women who I had the honor of calling my second mother! The angels are awaiting the arrival of Dorothy with their arms stretched out and opened up real wide to welcome her home into the pearly gates of HEAVEN!
