Obituary For Mother Sadie Campbell

Sadie Lee Campbell was born on May 2, 1933 in Little Rock, South Carolina to the late Clara Crawford and Giles Campbell. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 1, 2019.

She graduated from Gordon High School with the class of 1968. She worked numerous jobs: Cottingham Florist, Dillon Yarn, Dixiana Mills, and Latta School System, in which she retired. After working for the Cottinghams’ she found the love of her life making flowers, which lead her to open her own business Campbell’s Flower Den.

Sadie was a strong minded, independent, loving person that loved her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Miller Chapel AME Church for eighty-six years. As being a member of Miller Chapel she served on various committees such as President of the Gospel Choir, Class Leader, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Lay Council, and Member of the Senior Choir.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents: Giles and Clara Crawford Campbell; two sisters: Flora Bethea and Clara Mae Daniels; five brothers: Giles Jr., John D., Willie, Tommy and Henry; two children: Jurdian (James) Campbell and Olivia (Libby) Page.

Sadie leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories ~ one son: Douglas Glenn (Bobbie) Campbell of New York; two adopted children: Twaylya and Montreal Bethea; two sisters: Mary Johnson of Dillon, SC and Dorothy Burdick of New York; four brothers: Mack Campbell of New York, Clarence (Melanie) Campbell of Georgia, Eugene (Maxine) Campbell of Dillon, SC and Benjamin (Lisa) Campbell of VA; one sister-n-law: Addie Campbell of Dillon, SC; sixteen grandchildren: Renee, Larry, Levon (Latanya), Sonja, Tasha, Jonte’,Jevares, Anson (Shannon), Kevin (Shavon), Evonda, Devin, Brandon, Devetus, Franklin, Stamar, and Zyshon; twenty-four great grands: Genetta, Rodney, Jermaine, Shaquille, Denica, Kenmar, Shantel, Julian, Jayden, KyLie, Janazia, Jaresha, Amina, Aiden, Shakira, Jamiya, Jaden, Devin Jr, Hyzeke, QuallyC, Ariana, William, Saniah, and Gia; six great-great grands: M’Ariona, Kayden, Josiah, Renee and two life time friends: Kate Miller and Lizzie McRae of Dillon, SC and a host of other relatives, friends and Church family.

I had the privilege to work and meet Sadie at Dixianna Mill, later named Mohawk Carpet! We were all like one big family working together! I loved Sadie like my older sister! She made many beautiful bows for my Christmas Trees. She will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew her
