Getting old is a "b_ _ _ _." I missed putting my name on the last message (put name before candle). I think of Duke a lot, so miss him and his crazy dry humor. He would say things you wouldn't quite understand until the last part of the story or punchline, then you laugh like crazy. I remember walking home (up Lawson St) from CC Spaulding Elementary and we would stop at this lady's big tree and driveway and he had us speak some kind of language where you had to put a letter in front of every word. We thought we were "cool." Miss you Duke and always will. I know you have them laughing in heaven. Anita Cox Cobbs

May God comfort you in our time of sorrow. "Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in kindrid love; the fellowship of Christian minds is like to that above. When we asunder part, it gives us inward pain; but we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again." Love, Cousin Elaine & family.

Duke was the kind of person that when you spot each other on "the yard", you'd both start smiling 'cause you know you're both in for some good laughs. I don't remember ever seeing Larry without a smile. . .and I never met a Freeland that I didn't like. Teddy, my thoughts and prayers are yours. Monika Gunn-Holloway, NCCU '76
