In 1989, Ruby matriculated to Fort Pierce, Florida. Ruby was a strong woman whom had many jobs, in addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ruby worked as a wiring and assembly technician for Chrysler Motors and McDonell Douglas Aerospace Technologies, until their closings. Ruby was most recently employed at Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach, FL, for which she worked for over 22 years, until her health would no longer permit. She loved her co-workers and jobs very much. Ruby was a member of Miracle Prayer Temple under the leadership of Pastor Jody Brown, then later moved her membership to Eternal Life Deliverance Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Beverly Brown, where she remained until her passing.
Ruby was a devout wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, who lived to spend time with her family and friends. Especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruby could often be found cooking, fishing, or singing and listening to gospel music.
On November 28, 2019, Ruby went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Smith and Vera Lou Smith Gardenhigh.
