Obituary For Donald Durand Tillman

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., Antioch M.B. Church, 13146 Highway 51, Hazlehurst, MS 39083 with burial Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 12:00 noon, Sandhills State Veteran Cemetery, 220 Braggs Blvd., Fort Bragss, NC.

Visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2019 at Westhaven from 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. the family will greet family and friends from 6:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.

Mr. Donald Durand Tillman was born on March 11, 1960, to Ms. Bernice Tillman in Hazlehurst, MS who preceded him in death. Donald was also preceded in death by his son Donald Tillman, Jr., “D.J.”, and one brother-in-law, James Jefferson. Donald attended Hazlehurst High School and graduated with the class of 1978. After high school, Donald joined the Army. During this 20 year tenure he received service medals: Merit Orious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Conduct Medal (6th award), Nation Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Star (BSS), Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development ribbon with numeral 211 and Kuwait Liberation Award. He was an outstanding leader and proud to serve his country in Germany, Korea, and Kuwait. After retiring from the Army (Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, NC), Donald was employed with Entergy from which he later retired. Donald then moved to Mississippi where he met his wife. Donald loved the Lord and was a man of great faith. He was a talented writer and singer. Songs he wrote were, “I Will Die Believing God is a Healer”, “True To Your Word”, and “Special Work”. Donald always ministered to others through word, song, and prayer; this was his calling. Don was the most giving and kind hearted person especially to those in need. He would literally give you the shirt off his back and shoes off his feet. He leaves a legacy of precious memories, his wife, Pamela Williams Tillman; one son, Ricardo Zeigler; father-in-law, Mose Williams; mother-in-law, Walterene Williams; one brother, Lonnie Jerome Haynes (Lorraine); one sister, Valerie Tillman Jefferson; one brother-in-law, Anthony Williams (Marchelle); two grandchildren, R’Kya Zeigler and Riley Kai Zeigler; seven nieces: Decorya, Tone’, Anneisha, Antonya “Gabby”, Twylah Jefferson Daniel (Kevin), Jazz and Jada Haynes; three nephews: Dale, James “Bay Bay” Jefferson and James Jayceon Jefferson; and a host of relatives and friends.
