Edward Bennett Fomby was the oldest of two sons born on July 20, 1937 to the union of Benjamin Franklin Fomby and Christine Lawler Fomby in Talladega County, Alabama.

At an early age, Mr. Fomby united with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He completed his education at Talladega County Training School. Mr. Fomby was employed with the Russo Corporation for forty-one years and was a member of Labor Local 559. During his spare time, Edward enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and was a devoted Auburn fan.
