Joe was the first to encourage me after the first men’s prayer breakfast I attended at PFM in 2010. I was going through a serious trial in my life and his reaching out to me gave me the boost I needed to believe. We became friends after that. He took me fishing for the first time in my life and we played golf together. Joe fried fish and chicken so perfectly you’d think they were created with breading on them. He was a great role model as a husband to Ma Brenda. He was so cool all of the time. He was hilarious and great to be around. He was so proud of his family and with good reason. I miss my friend. God is faithful!

Bren, Jason and Alysha-- I appreciate the visits I had at your home and how you always made me feel comfortable. I remember the last conversation I had with Mr. Jones was about moving to Tennessee and getting into the medical field. He encouraged me and it is still in my plans. Know that I am praying for you all during this time, however, I know that God has you in his hands. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Praying for you to have strength and comfort. Carmen Harp (Pirtle--Etta other daughter).

Hello my name is Oscar Dixon jr I remember joe as a curious but comic guy who always had something funny to say , I remember back in 1973 he and breen came over to Detroit from Kalamazoo to visit and they had only been married for a couple of years but they were happy and you could tell that they enjoyed each other . I can say as someone who knew joe all my life that he was sincere and fun to be around and I know breen is going to miss his joy and his physical presence but just remember to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord and we grieve his passing but we will always have his memories ( may god bless his family and his love ones9HGS
