John “Johnny” W. Raines, Jr passed peacefully, December 14, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. He was born on August 2, 1952 to the late John W. and Betty Jean Raines. Johnny is survived by his wife, Sherry Neal Raines; a daughter, Erin Raines (Atlanta, GA); and a son, John W. Raines, III; three granddaughters; two sisters, Linda Raines Warren (Bruce) and Gloria Raines Lewis (Paul), (all of Danville, KY). He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald C. Raines.

I am so sorry for your loss Sherry and family. I had no idea he had passed. I talked with him at Walmart not long ago about my boys and he was do kind and caring. Great memories of him coaching Ryan. A wonderful man gone way too soon. Prayers for all of you!

So sorry for you and family Sherry. I started work for the railroad in 1974. Johnny was one of the first ones that helped train me. He was a dear friend with me from then until he retired. We worked together at Danville and worked together when I went to Somerset. I had a lot of respect for him as a person and a railroader. So sorry for your loss! Gary Whitis
