He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late William Joseph, Sr. and Kathryn Louise (Drayton) Wrighton, a 1953 graduate of the Susquehanna Township School District, a U.S. Air Force Veteran who was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. William was the first African American Officer on the Susquehanna Twp.
Police Force and in his leisure, he enjoyed football, fast cars, reading and listening to jazz. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in transitioning by his brother, Jacob Wrighton; his three sisters, Rebecca Banks, Henrietta Hartford and Kathryn Spradley; two of his daughters, Tracy and Davine Wrighton and one of his sons, Brian Rafferty. He leaves to celebrate his life, his three daughters, Stephanie Burgess, Desiree Wrighton and Tamika Poles; his son, Timothy Hodge; his special niece, Kathy Hartford; his six grandchildren; his great-grandchild and several other nieces and nephews.
His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 17th at 12 Noon in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Covid 19 guidelines will be observed with masks and six foot distancing for all attendees.
