John Knox, Sr. was born May 10,1933 in Memphis, TN to the late Walter Knox and Rachel Jones-Hawkins. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at St. Stephens Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Vanhooks. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Mae Francis Knox for 48 years and raised five children together. He retired from the Shelby County Road Department where he invested 25 years of employment.

He is preceded in death by his wife (Mae Francis Knox), son (John Knox, Jr.), brothers (Henry Hawkins, Jr., Nathaniel Hawkins, sister (Hazel Hawkins) and his parents (Walter Knox and Rachel Jones-Hawkins).

John Knox, Sr. transitioned from this life peacefully at home on October 18, 2021. He leaves cherished memories to his daughters- Ruby Prescott, Loretta Poindexter, Mattie Deener, Nichole Knox, two sisters- Shirley Dodson and Reola Hawkins, Sister in Law- Ada Hawkins, and a host of grandchildren and great-children.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 11:55 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St Stephen Baptist Church, 4245 Singleton Parkway, Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday at St Stephen Baptist Church located at 4245 Singleton Parkway Memphis, Tennessee 38128. Interment will be in Memphis Memory Gardens, Memphis, TN.
