Frazine Kennett Taylor of Wetumpka, Alabama (residing in Montgomery) passed away on July 24, 2024 at the age of 79. She was born on March 21, 1945, and was the second child and only daughter of Professor John L. and Martha 0. Jones (both deceased). An accomplished historian and renowned genealogist, Frazine spent her career at the Alabama Department of Archives and History (ADAH). In addition to her career at ADAH, she was an author; an active board member for many local, county, and statewide organizations; professor of colloquia and classes across the state of Alabama; creator of genealogy workshops across the US; worked part-time at Alabama State University Levie Watkins Learning Center; and even was featured as an archivist on PBS, in Southern Living Magazine and in the Christian Science Monitor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Taylor, and her older brother, John C. Jones. As part of her legacy, she leaves her brother, Theron Jones (Moreno Valley, CA), sisters-in-law, Joyce Jones (Montgomery, AL) and Margaret “Katie” Jones (Moreno Valley, CA), and nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Services entrusted to Ross Clayton Funeral Home and will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Interment at her home church, Mt Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Wetumpka.
