Fernandena Cleo Oden Hale-Smith, born on January 7, 1939 in Wattsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. She was the cherished daughter of Virgil and Lola Oden and a beloved sister to Virgie Jackson. Fernandena's life was marked by her commitment to her faith, education, and community service, having attended Southern Normal School and Alabama A&M University.

Her professional journey was diverse and impactful. She dedicated her career to nurturing and supporting others, working at Maumee Children's Home, Connecting Point, and JBS Mental Health. Fernandena was also a skilled cosmetologist, bringing beauty and confidence to those she served.

Fernandena was preceded in death by her husbands, Milton S. Hale and Ernest Smith, whose memories she treasured. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she found immense joy in spending time with them. She is survived by her loving niece, Anita Wilson, and her grand-nieces, Monica Roach and Maya Wilson. Her great-grand-niece, Peyton Roach, and great-grand-nephew, Avery Roach, were a source of great pride and happiness for her.

Fernandena's life was enriched by her faith and her passions for cooking, community outreach, travel, and the company of friends and family. Her warmth and generosity touched many lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

She will be fondly remembered by dear loved ones Linda Gregory, Vernita Love Johnson, and Danny Patton, who shared in her life's journey. Fernandena's spirit of kindness and dedication to others will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, who celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love.
