Corey Catreal Chapman

Corey was born on a mild Tuesday, February 20th, 1979, in Talladega, Alabama.

At an early age he joined Africa Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Reverend Threatt. Corey was a proud 1997 graduate of Talladega High School where his received many awards and MVP trophies in basketball. His passion for learning led him to hone his skills at the Universal Technical Institute in Houston, TX. He applied his talents at Sentinel Consumer, Shoffner Industries, and later at his entrepreneurial venture, Chapman and Chapman, LLC. His commitment to his work was evident in every endeavor he undertook, and his industrious spirit resonated throughout his career. An active member of Labor Local 559, Corey was committed to improving the well-being of his fellow workers. Known for his adept hands and love for his projects, he had a particular affinity for working on cars, meticulously planting gardens and flower beds, and engaging in carpentry work that showcased his creativity and attention to detail.

Corey and Kanetra were united in holy matrimony on September 11, 2010. They were blessed with a baby girl, Ka'Lyria Massingale Chapman, He is also survived by his daughter, TaJihya Merritt, and his son, Je'Coyous Chapman, all of whom reside in Talladega, AL. He leaves behind two adored grandchildren, Kamari Chapman and Aceyn Chapman, who brought immense joy to his life. Corey's devoted mother, Joyce Chapman, and his brother, Antwan Chapman, both of Talladega, AL, will also cherish his memory. His aunts, Betty Burton of Oak Park, MI, Lois Barclay and Mary Duncan of Talladega, AL., his best friend, Steven Barclay, who shared many cherished memories with Corey, and a host of other relatives and friends, also survive him.

Corey Catreal Chapman, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, left us on Sunday, November 16th, 2025, at the age of 46. Corey was welcomed into eternal rest by those who loved him dearly, his loving grandparents, John and Gertrude Headen, sister-in-law, Rita Chapman, his cherished aunt, Martha Lee Headen, and uncles John D. Headen, William Earl Headen, Richard Headen, Rodgers Headen, and William Junior Headen. May he rest in everlasting peace, surrounded by the love and warmth of those who have gone before him.
