Jennifer Ann Allen-Dawson was born on October 22, 1973, to Solomon Allen and Willie Ann Griffin in Lee County, Alabama.

She attended and graduated from Smiths Station High School in 1992. She was a majorette in the band. She also attended Alabama State University and later graduated from Southern Union with a degree in Early Childhood development. She loved all the kids, and it just brought her so much joy to be around children of all ages. She truly had an impact on every child she met.

At an early age, Jennifer accepted Christ and united with Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, Alabama. There she sang in the choir and participated in the church. Later, she moved her membership to Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsview, Alabama, under the leadership of her stepfather, Pastor Frederick Griffin, Jr. At Shady Grove Jennifer enjoyed singing in the choir, playing alongside her dad on the drums and being on the kitchen committee.

Jennifer had many talents, but her most well-known talent was her beautiful voice. Throughout the years Jennifer has sung with many groups, like The Wings of Faith, her dear sisters The Valley Girls, The Hinds Sisters, The Hebrew Travelers, and The Sensational Brothers. Jennifer loved to sing praise unto the Lord whenever she could, whether she was sick or in good health.

Jennifer passed away peacefully in the love and comfort of her family on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at East Alabama Medical Center.

Jennifer is preceded in death by her grandparents Eddie and Annie Francis Roberson and her precious son Bernard Allen.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her mother, Willie Ann (Fredrick Jr.) Griffin, her father Solomon (Anne) Allen, her two children, Javasia Allen and Delundra Dawson, her husband, Donald Dawson, three brothers, Jerome Roberson, Gerald Allen, Donte (Julia), and her special friend Ulysses Calhoun who she loved dearly. She also leaves behind some very special and loving sisters and a host of aunties, nieces, nephews and friends who she cared for and loved with all her heart.

Her legacy of love, strength and faith will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. We will cherish her beautiful voice for the rest of our days in hopes of hearing it again.
