Stephen Wayne Deweber, aged 72, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 22, 2025. Stephen was in his favorite place surrounded by family and the beautiful mountains and fall leaves of South Fork, Colorado.
Services will take place on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Bowie. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm followed by a service officiated by Mike Henson from 2:00-3:00 pm. Graveside services will follow at Prairie Branch Cemetery in Bowie.
Stephen was born November 30, 1952, in Bowie, Texas to Arcue and Gladys Deweber. Stephen graduated from Bowie High School in 1971 where he met his lifelong sweetheart, and future wife, Beverly Garrett. After graduation, Stephen spent a year at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, before returning to Bowie to make Beverly his bride on July 14, 1973. Stephen and Beverly have been blessed to have 52 wonderful years together. In the Fall of 1973, Stephen became employed as a Clerk for the United States Postal Office, where he served for 38 years until retiring in 2011.
Stephen loved the Lord and his family. Stephen had a passion for creativity and enjoyed woodworking, restoring classic cars, and playing his guitar with his music group at church. He also loved traveling with Beverly and his sons to the mountains of Colorado. For 43 years, Beverly and Stephen never missed a trip camping and fishing in Colorado alongside their friends Charles and Marilyn Kesseler of Sanger, Texas.
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Stanley Deweber of Jacksboro, Texas. Stephen is survived by his wife Beverly, his son Clint Deweber of Bowie, his son and daughter in law Michael and Karen (Aycock) Deweber of Midland, Texas, and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Stephen’s name to the Building Fund at the First Baptist Church, Bowie, Texas.
