Deacon Sandy Hubbard, son of the late Mr. Willis Hubbard and Mrs. Frances Hubbard was born September 22, 1923 and departed this life January 8, 2026 at Autumn Care Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Marshville, North Carolina at the blessed age of 102.
He attended the public schools of Anson County. He was a World War II Veteran (Army) from January 1943 to January 26, 1946 stationed at Fort Bragg, served Combat duty in Europe. He received a good Conduct Medal, Eto ribbon, Four bronze stars and a World War II Victory Medal.
He confessed Christ as his personal savior at an early age and became a member of West Rocky Ford Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful member until his health declined.
On March 31, 1946 he united in Holy Matrimony to Esther Lee Ratliff who preceded him in death.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Eva Mae Jefferson and Phyllis Lee Cole (Robert); two granddaughters, Margie Hubbard-Pratt whom he raised and Angel Patrice Hubbard; two brothers, Mr. Milton Hubbard and Mr. Jimmy Hubbard and five sisters, Miss Corretta Hubbard, Miss Julia Hubbard, Mrs. Emma Little, Miss Mary Hubbard and Mrs. Liza Little.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories Diane Hubbard-Patterson, daughter, of the home; two sons, Mr. Alexander Ratliff (Donna) of Syracuse, New York and Mr. Frederick B. Hubbard (Nona) of Laurinburg, NC; three daughters, Mrs. Rosetta Huntley (William) of Matthews, NC, Mrs. Mary Esther Sturdivant (Bryant) of Polkton, NC, and Shirley Hubbard-Deese of Charlotte, NC. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren one of which he raised, Johnnie Hubbard of Orlando, Florida. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of the West Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
