Nathan Roger Stone, 31, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, in a car accident in Kings Mountain, NC. Although he moved recently to North Carolina, he was originally from Northglenn, Colorado.
He is survived by his parents, Roger Lewis Stone and Carolyn Maestas (Peter); his son, Oliver Stone; two older sisters (Sarah Stone Ludlow and Rachel Stone); and two younger brothers (Samuel Stone and Joshua Stone).
As a little boy he loved being outside – digging in the dirt – climbing the trees or riding his skateboard. He played baseball for seven years and was so excited when they let him be the pitcher the last year he played – he could throw a pretty mean knuckleball. As he got older, his love of sports continued – being a big fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.
Nathan was such a hard worker and he never wanted an office job - he would rather do physical work or be outside. For a while he worked as a caregiver and everyone loved him because he was so kind and compassionate. He never complained if he had a rough day with lots of messes to clean up – he always had a soft spot for the elderly and it made him feel so good to help people – it just came natural to him and who he was.
Nathan lived a simple life and wasn’t a materialistic person. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and the Colorado mountains – that’s where he was the most happy and content.
Even though he wasn’t successful by the world’s standards, he had character traits that are worth more than any successful career or material possessions. Nathan is a GOOD man and has a heart of gold. All that knew him could sense what a gentle soul he was, full of compassion, unconditional love, and kindness for others.
He was generous and often times put other people’s needs before his. Many times he gave his last dollar to someone in need and he would share how happy that made him feel. He was always so thoughtful and would buy birthday or Christmas gifts for family, even when he couldn’t afford it.
The greatest joy of his life was his son, Ollie – he was so proud of him and always liked to share his accomplishments and things he would learn. He would always light up when he talked about Ollie.
Nathan has returned to his heavenly home to live with God, his brother, Jesus Christ, and his grandparents and family who have passed on before him. He is sorely missed and will never be forgotten by his family and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 100 Malley Drive, Northglenn, CO.
