Eric Lynn Kern, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, entered eternal rest on January 3, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1968, to the late Lester C. Kern and Lillie Pearl Taylor Kern.
Though he was a private and reserved person, known closely by only a few, his impact reached many. He had a love for science fiction movies and television shows, especially the walking dead. Eric didn't take many pictures of himself, but he loved capturing moments of others, finding happiness in seeing those around him smile.
From a young age, Eric displayed exceptional intelligence and a love for learning, reading well beyond his years and excelling in school. As he grew older, he developed a passion for barbering. He attended Hinds Community College and later completed barber school in Birmingham, Alabama. Eric began his professional barbering career at Edge Brothers and went on to build a successful and respected career throughout Birmingham, AL.
Eric welcomed his greatest joy on November 3, 2003, his daughter Mykia Erica Horton, whom he loved dearly.
Eric was a smart, wholesome, loving, and thoughtful man whose humor and curiosity left a lasting impression on those who truly knew him. He was selfless and encouraging, always striving to make the best out of any situation. A strategic thinker, Eric lived by strong principles, setting goals for himself and working diligently to achieve them.
A man of depth and awareness, Eric was socially aware and highly observant of the world around him always able to teach something new to those willing to listen.
Eric is survived by his loving mother, Lillie Pearl Taylor Kern; His daughter, Mykia Erica Horton; His brothers, Gary Kern and Stanford Earl Kern; His nephews, Chris Kern and Jared Kern. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester C. Kern.
