Celebrating the Life of Dobbie Hunter Williams born July 3, 1947 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Jack Hunter and Mattie Perry Hunter.
Dobbie was baptized at the age of six at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. W. L. Wilson where she remained a member throughout her life until her passing on December 4, 2025.
She attended Highland Elementary School. Dobbie graduated from Carver High School, Class of 1965. She continued her education at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina and Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Her career began at Benjamin E. Mays High School in Pacolet, South Carolina as a School Administrative Assistant. She continued at Carver High School, and then at Spartanburg High School until her retirement in 2009.
Throughout Dobbie's life she was actively and consistently engaged in the life of the church.
She was a Sunday School teacher, as well as a teacher with the Ambassadors for Christ on Wednesday evenings, and the Summer Camp program.
Dobbie was a member of various ministries including the Autumn Age, Culinary, Mountain Movers, Prayer, YWA, and the Senior Missionary. She was also a member of the Adult Choir. Along with being in the many ministries she volunteered with the Celebrate Recovery Ministry and Childrens Church. Mrs. Williams' church activities were not just limited to Macedonia, she was also the Secretary for the Spartanburg County Baptist Association. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) at Bethel United Methodist Church and First Baptist of Spartanburg for many years.
Her Community/ Civic Organizations not only included her church involvement but also Help for Our Elderly, Inc. Non Profit organization, Clerk tor Voter registration precinct for many,many years until her illness, and a Charter Member of Xi Sigma Philos, an affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. where she held many positions as a Secretary, Vice President and lastly President in 2024.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was predeceased by: two brothers, William and Allen Hunter; her husband, Curtis Williams; her granddaughter, Charlisa Johnson; Her niece, Ebony Hunter; and a great-great-niece, Dekeria Scott.
Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her daughter, Bridgette McDowell; grandchildren, Chris Snoddy (Nori), DJ McDowell (Alexis), Cody McDowell (Samone), Christine McDowell; twelve great-grandchildren, her sister, Gloria Hunter (Leon); her niece, Jaimie Hunter; great-nieces, Jamia and Tariah hunter; four sister-in-laws; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Heritage Memorial Gardens.
Philos Rites will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 4:00 pm at the chapel.
