Norma Meadows, 86 of Eden, NC passed Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 607 Stanton St., Eden, NC. The “Celebration of Life” will begin at 1:00 p.m. with interment following at Hamlin Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, 511 Henry St., Eden, NC from 12 Noon - 5:00 p.m.

Norma Gray Valentine Cummings Meadows, 86 years old, the daughter of the late Addie Artis Valentine and the late William Jackson Valentine. She was born on December 5, 1939 and departed this life to get her heavenly reward on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Norma Gray was educated in the Henry County Public School System and worked in textile, until the early 1990s. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Gospel Light United Holy Church, under the leadership of Dr. Lettie P. Cohen. Later on, Norma became a faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Eden, NC, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Norma Gray, affectionally called Granny, was a devoted mother and grandmother and adored sister. She was an avid homemaker who enjoyed cooking, shopping, traveling, and listening to Gospel Music. She always welcomed you to her home with a genuine smile, “come here baby, (or sugar),” and a meal.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Nancy Dillard Valentine, her sisters: Vera Jones, Remonia Wilson, and Helen Cheryl Valentine, her brothers: Robert Valentine, William Valentine Jr., and Alexander Valentine, and grandsons, Derricka and Ernest Baize.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters: Norma Jean Alston (Clem), Greensboro, NC, Gloria Marvenia Cummings, Eden, NC, Janie Mae Cummings (Roger), Brown Summit, NC; and son: Cletus Farrell Cummings (Wanda), Stoneville, NC; her sisters, Dorothy Clark, Eden, NC, Rivers Jean Brim, (Axton, Va) and her brothers, Bobby Valentine (Ruby), Eden, NC, Herbert Valentine and Ronald Valentine (Linda), Axton, VA. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Tony (Sabrina), Dennis, Lakenan, Colina, Aleshia (David), Jasmine, Brianna, Shakendra (Shadelia), and Kevon (Amani), fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Norma Gray will be missed dearly by her family and special friends, Gilbert Hamlin, Arnita Tinsley, and Joe Grant.
