Mrs. Ruth Allred Pressley

Mrs. Ruth Pressley gave her earthly life and transitioned at the age of 77. Ruth received her crown and took her rest on Saturday March 7, 2026 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1949 to Emerson Allred Jr. and Annice Hicks in Greensboro, NC. In addition to her parents, Ruth was proceeded in death by her granddaughter, Tiara Pressley Shiffer, her brother, Mac Arthur Allred Sr., sister, Faye Allred Phillips, brothers-in-law, Alvin Phillips and Ned Briley, Sr., her sister-in-law, Daisy White Allred, nephews, Tyler James Briley and Wilson Moore III and lastly her niece Lauren Johnson.

As number three of her six siblings she attended Florence Elementary School and then started high school at William Penn. The ending of segregation led her to finish her education at Lucy, Ragsdale High School. Ruth was the first African-American to graduate and receive her diploma there.

Ruth was a dedicated and hard worker. Her first job was at Silver Net and then Influential, both Hosiery Mills. She later retired from the High Point Post Office after 17 years of service. Ruth was well known as a “Mother Trucker” she was a mother to a lot of the truckers in the industry. She served as second-in-command for There Trucking in 2010 and went on to start That’s Trucking in 2017. Ruth was in the trucking business for over a decade. She enjoyed sneaking up on Kevin and the rest of the drivers at the yard. Ruth also enjoyed tending to flowers, riding and eating, and she still managed to have enough time to play a few numbers and win a few jackpots. Known for snapping a picture when you didn’t know it or least expected Ruth was her happiest with Family. She especially loved to be in the presence of her sisters, her two favorite fellas, Kevin and Darrell and her companion of 20+ years, Marion McRae a.k.a. Bob. Ruth will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her two sons, Darrell Pressley, Sr. of Parrish, Fl., and Kevin Pressley, Sr. of High Point, her companion, Marion McRae of High Point, NC; sisters, Bernice Briley of High Point, NC and Helen Pemberton (George) of Salisbury, NC; her brother, James Allred (Johnsie) of Greensboro. grandchildren, Hannah Johnson and Darrell Pressley Jr. (Sancia) of Florida, Laddie Pressley and Kevin Pressley, Jr. of High Point, NC and Khairy Pressley of Greensboro, NC; her great grandchildren, Samara Pressley and Sariah Pressley of Florida, Akai Khareem Parker Pressley of Greensboro, NC and Leighla Elise Marshall Pressley of High Point, NC.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Williams Memorial CME, 3400 Triangle Lake Road. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Ms. Pressley may be viewed on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
