Mr. Jake Hagler, III

Mr. Jake Hagler, III, of High Point, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1960, to the late Mary Alston Hagler and Jake Hagler, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Maurice Hagler; his grandparents, Rosalee and Nathan Williams; his nephew, Maurice “Boss” Hagler, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was a member of Williams Memorial CME Church and retired from the City of High Point, leaving behind a legacy of service. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Army, demonstrating both courage and dedication. In addition to his military service, he was also a respected member of the Toussaint L’Ouverture Lodge #524, PHA, and the Abdallah Temple #189, where he built strong bonds with fellow members and contributed to the mission of these organizations.

Jake loved his family wholeheartedly, and everyone had a special place in his life. He was a servant leader, action-oriented, approaching every situation with a sense of purpose and enthusiasm. His lively spirit and energy lit up any room he entered, making him a vibrant presence in his community. He particularly treasured the bonds he formed with his South Side family, where friendships felt like a second home. With his welcoming smile and genuine kindness, Jake had a special gift for connecting with anyone he encountered; to him, there were no strangers, only friends he had yet to meet. His absence will resonate deeply in the hearts of those who knew him, as he leaves behind a legacy of love and connection that will never be forgotten.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 33 years, Necy Mills Hagler of the home; his daughter, Cherrita (Calvin) Scaife; his sons, Jake Hagler IV and, Donavaun Mills; six grandchildren, Jamont, Keyanna, Tyler, Treyvon, Jordyn, and Kobie, and one great-grandson, Tristan; He is also survived by his sisters, Audria (Norman) McIntyre, Teresa Hagler and Tracie (Dana) Deverlie; brothers, Derrick Hagler and Carl (Kathy) Hagler; aunts, Patricia (Bobby) Middlebrooks, Lennette (Leonard) Wilson, Roberta (Curt) Scott, Doris (Rick) Robinson, Mary Phifer and Vanessa Lockhart; uncles, Nathaniel (Janet) Williams, Roy Williams, Michael (Donna) Williams and Pete Alston; mother-in-law, Neecy Barnes; father-in-law, Edward (Phyllis) Torrence; sisters-in law, Mary (George) Berry, Sharon (Walter) Thomas, Renee Shealey, and Raquel LaFoucade; brothers-in-law, Billy Mason, Keith Torrence, and Carl (Penny) Torrence; uncles-in-law, Hobert Mills, and Eddie (Renee) Torrence; bonus daughter, DeAngela Lockhart; bonus brothers, Casey (Tonia) Harrington, and Ken (Jean) Harrington; his Toussant L’Ouverture Lodge #524 PHA Abdallah Temple #189, White Rose Chapter #157, Order of the Eastern Stars, and a hosts of nephews, nieces, cousins and lifelong friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial CME Church. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Mr. Hagler may be viewed on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.
