Eartha Green, III, 72, of Phenix City, AL, passed on Sunday, March 15, 2026 in Phenix City, AL.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Friendship Baptist Church, Columbus, GA with Rev. Arthur Mitchell, Pastor, officiating. Burial at West End Cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Taylor Funeral Home.
Eartha Green III, affectionately known as “Pop” , peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on March 16, 2026 at his residence in Phenix City, Alabama.
Eartha Green was born on November 3, 1953 to the late Eartha Green II and the late Emma Davis Green. Eartha accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Phenix City School District and graduated from Central High School.
After high school, Eartha enlisted in the Army and served for several years. Eartha’s daughter Patricia was born before joining the Army. Several years later Eartha met the love of his life, the late Frances Green and they were joined into Holy Matrimony. From their union, Eartha and Frances had seven children.
Eartha was known for his sayings of “Yes Sir”, “Yo, yo, yo” and “Hey doll” in his community. He was known by many who loved and appreciated him. Eartha was a “Gentle Giant”, quiet, yet strong in stature and character. After his retirement from the City of Phenix City, Eartha cherished spending time with his family. Family was a vital part of Eartha’s life. During his leisure time, Eartha enjoyed watching western movies and watching his favorite football team, the Alabama Crimson Tide play during football season. A truly honorable individual. Eartha will be immensely missed.
Eartha is survived by his children, Patricia Tyson, Frances Lolita Green, Eartha D. Green, Medaly Olufemi, Timothy Green, Latonya Glance (Marques), Conntessa Green-Lias (Christopher) & Shorndell Green, two sisters, Contessa Calhoun & Ella Green, two sisters-in-laws, Essie Gary & Annie Golden, two brother-in-laws, William Golden & James Golden (Elaine), a special sister Mattie Spearman, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, & a host of other relatives and friends.
