Ronald Lee Tyson was born August 12, 1956, to the late Christine Johnson-Tyson and Otis Tyson, Sr., in High Point, NC. He was preceded in death by nine brothers, Otis Jr., James, and Julius Tyson; Charles, Jerome, Willie, Larry, Cleveland, and Louis Johnson; five sisters, Dorothy Titus, Carolyn Anthony, Sarah Funchess, Juanita, and Reatha Tyson; four sisters-in-law, Margie, Letitia, Waco, and Anne; one brother-in-law, Josephus Davis.

Ronald was a graduate of High Point Central High School in 1974 and was a dynamic star athlete who played football and track. He also played for the High Point Bucks and was blessed to participate in a scrimmage game with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1970s.

For over 28 years, Ronald coached Little League football under High Point Parks and Recreation. Additionally, he served as the assistant football coach for Ferndale Middle School, where he had the privilege of coaching several athletes who went on to play in the NFL.

Ronald was employed as an upholster with Clyde Pearson for 40 years and then worked for Case Steel until retirement. He was a faithful member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church until his illness prevented him from attending. Ronald sang on the Reverend Curtis Inspirational Choir and became known as Keith “Wonderboy” Tyson. His favorite song to sing was "Be Right" by Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life, his daughter, LaPorche (Christopher) McCaskill; two grandchildren, Xavier and Brooklyn McCaskill; two brothers, Luther Johnson and Troy (Carol) Anthony; five sisters, Ella (Jimmie) Shelton, Dr. Gwendolyn (Rev. Bobby, Jr.) Green, Doris (Jimmie) Byers, Debbie Davis, and Cheryl Tyson; best friends, William Wilson, Carlus Wilson, and Richard May; seventeen nephews, twenty-two nieces, and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at First Emmanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
