Ms. Janice Pearl Cunningham Swain was born November 10, 1952, in Talladega, AL to the union of Mr. Donnell Cunningham and Mrs. Elizabeth Embry Cunningham.

Janice graduated from Talladega College where she got a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She married Theodore Swain Jr. and this union blessed 2 children. They moved to Montgomery Al, where she worked and retired from the State of Alabama as a Mental Health educator. Spending her time afterwards as a devoted member of the Family Life Bible Fellowship Church.

She passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Nia Alloway, sisters Barbara Cunningham, Elisie Cunningham, Bertha Cunningham, Carolyn Chatman, Shelia Cunningham, and her brother Nathaniel Cunningham.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Shayla Spearman, grandchildren, Alia Alloway, Caylee Alloway, Rawn Spearman, Ava Spearman, great grandchildren, Layton Alloway, Nia Rose Alloway, sisters, Geraldine Garrett, Betty Simmons (Wesley), Judith James (Peter) and brother Herman Cunningham (Jackie).
