With deep love and remembrance, we honor the life of Lynwood Garrett, a loving father, cherished son, beloved brother, influential uncle, and treasured friend. Born on March 28, 1957, on his mother’s birthday, Lynwood was doubly celebrated as a gift from God, the only son born to his parents, Louis and Pearlie Lee (Honey) Garrett, in their later years. They dearly loved him and treasured his presence, and that bond shaped the foundation of his life and values.
Lynwood was the proud father of five children, whom he loved fiercely and without reservation: Favian Garrett (Jacquelyn), Thadius Garrett, Anastasia Horne (Tavares), Lynwood Garrett Jr., and Carlos Smith. His absence will be a tangible factor of longing and sweet memories every remaining day of their lives.
He also leaves sweet memories with nine beloved grandchildren—Alexandria, Gianna, Addison, Aulrhianna, Rhyley, Jaidon, Zhian, Aija, and Thatcher—each an individual source of joy and pride for their “Grand daddy”.
He leaves treasured memories with his devoted nephew and brother of heart, Larry Garrett, his niece and sister of heart, Sharon Williams (Gerald). He also leaves to cherish the memory of his presence in this life, “Added Sisters and Brothers”, Emma Gilbert, Pauline Bowers, Elmira Bowers-Long, Jacqueline Taylor (Brad), David, and Jamme Bowers.
Lynwood played a meaningful and lasting role in the lives of his nieces and nephews, guiding them with strength, blunt honesty, and high expectations. Too many to name and too precious to be forgotten, Angela Lettinhand, Edmund Garrett, Shedrick (Ron) Brown, Roosevelt (Bodene) Brown, many cousins and friends were also dear to his heart and ever-present in his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Louis and Pearlie Lee (Honey) Garrett; his sisters, Carrie Godwin and Mary L. Smith; and his beloved son, Thadius Garrett.
