We gathered here today, to honor the remarkable life of a beloved son, brother, cousin and friend. Thomas Calvin Martin was born on March 31, 1956, and left his earthly home for his heavenly home on February 11, 2026. He was born to James Martin and Ann Martin.

Calvin Martin was raised in Stoneville, North Carolina. He attended Stone Elementary and graduated from Stoneville High School in 1974. He joined Mayo Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and sang in the young people’s choir, up until the time he left to attend Fayetteville State University.

Calvin began his career working in the medial industry supervising the sanitation of operating rooms at Duke Medical Hospital. After 15 years at Duke Hospital, he changed career for something that reminded him more of home and began working at Stihl Manufacturing company, building and testing equipment.

Calvin had a deep love for country living. He loved to shoot, hunt, fish and ride

4-wheelers. But most of all he loved and being around his family. Born with a passion for food, he never met a table he didn’t enjoy sitting at. Known to out eat men twice his sizes but never gaining a pound. Calvin possessed the unique ability to make those around him feel special and loved. Taking after his father, he never met a stranger and would help anyone who needed it.

During his father’s sickness, he was consistently by his father’s side. After his father’s passing, he continued to play a vital role helping his brothers and sister take care of his mother, often making sure to take her to church each time he came home.

Calvin leaves to cherish: His mother; Annie Martin, one sister; Karen Campt (Corey), four brothers; James, Jr. (Mila), Alfred (Cheryl), Jerry and Darryl (Kim).
