Ricardo was someone you felt when he entered a room. He carried strength in his spirit, loyalty in his heart and a presence that lingered. Those who knew him understood his humor, his determination and the way he stood firm in his own way. His love ran deep, even when it wasn't always spoken.

He was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and attended West Forsyth High School, where he played basketball and football. An all-around athlete, he embraced both competition and the connections formed through teamwork.

Fatherhood was part of his life's journey. He was the father of nine children: Ricardo D. Edwards, Jr., Diamond Williamson, Destiny Edwards, Ricardo L. Edwards Jr., Legend Edwards, Nevaeh Edwards, Jayden Kotary, Jermiah Davis and Janaziyah Edwards. They carry his name and pieces of his spirit within them. Through them, his story continues.

He is survived by his brother, Ricky Edwards, his sisters; Jacara Edwards and Phileatha Edwards and his devoted cousins, Teron Edwards, Chris Edwards, Teronica Edwards and Nathaniel Sykes. He also leaves a host of extended family members and dear friends who will remember his resilience, laughter and the mark he left on their lives.

Ricardo is also survived by Carma Kirksey and Amanda Williamson-Edwards, with whom he shared devoted and meaningful unions built on love, dedication and deep respect. Those bonds remained a cherished part of his life's journey.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Edwards, his father, Richard “Dickey”. his sister, Angel, his grandmother, Doretha Edwards, and his uncles, Ronald Edwards and Nathaniel Pouncey.

Though we were not ready to say goodbye, Ricardo's life left an imprint that will endure. His name will live on in stories, in memories and in the hearts of those who loved him. He will always remain a part of us.
