The Lord called Ivey Dean Miller home on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, at 7:50 a.m. Ivey Dean Miller was born and raised in Green Sea, SC, on August 26, 1943, to his late parents, Jessie Sr. and Jeanette Miller. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse Miller, Jr., and Marvin Miller, as well as his sister, Sheila Holmes

Ivey graduated from Finklea High School. In the early 1970s, he moved to Darlington, SC, before settling in High Point, NC. There, he worked faithfully for Burlington Industries and Hatteras Yachts and later retired from Thomas Built Buses.

After retirement, Ivey enjoyed spending his days watching soap operas and talking politics with his favorite brother-in-law, friend, buddy, and political partner, Sammy Johnson—something the family often laughed about and cherished deeply.

Ivey loved his family wholeheartedly, and everyone who knew him loved him in return. He had a special way of touching the hearts of everyone he met. Known by many nicknames, including “Buddy Dean,” “Ripple,” “Father,” and “Da,” Ivey was always recognized for his warm spirit and welcoming smile. No one ever met him without leaving with kind words to say about him.

He was truly a hands-on man who could fix just about anything he touched. He loved cars, car racing, riding motorcycles, and especially fishing — hobbies that brought him great joy throughout his life.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his devoted wife, Margaret Miller; his daughters, Sonya Miller and Wanda Bristow; and his beloved grandchildren, Kenean Miller, Bianica Blair, and Ryan Harrington, and his great-grandchildren, Mason Martin and Ariana Miller. He leaves behind his loving siblings: Voncill Quick; (Hubert) of New Bern, NC; Shirley Shaw of High Point, NC; Carolyn Johnson “Sammy” of High Point, NC; Priscilla Miller of High Point, NC; Rodney Miller (U.S. Army Retired) and Dolores Miller of Florence, SC; Barbara Miller of High Point, NC; Cindy Batton (Willie) of Florence, SC; and Harriet Hayes (Henry) of High Point, NC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Special thanks are extended to his brother-in-law, Sammy Johnson, sister-in-law, Judy Butler, and niece, Tonya Smith, for their love and support.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial CME Church, 3400 Triangle Lake Road. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
