He returned to his home church regularly bringing his children with him. Darrell was a proud graduate of Madison County High School, Danielsville, GA-Class of 1982. Darrell career path was diverse and inspiring. He was a proud Veteran having served in the United States Army. He later became an Independent Truck Driver for 34 years, working for various companies while travelling across the US. His dedication fueled his passion as he hauled goods from state to state keeping the country running.
He framed his work as a sacrifice and a commitment to support his family; even though he was away often, his family carried him within their hearts, while he explored the country and shared stories about his travels with his family and friends.
Darrell was a "Barbeque (BBQ) Master" and often the life of family get-togethers. He began his journey in his parents yard turning a weekend hobby into a passion for smoking meat. It was not just a tool, but a way to bring family and friends together at cookouts, family reunÂions, family quality time-any event-by cooking meats "Low and Slow" in the oven, on the gas and coal grills.
PIP was a true Georgia Bulldog Fan. He shared his passion watching the games with his family and friends many times in the comfort of his living room. If he was not watching them he was talking about them. He took much pride wearing red and black, attending tailgating and making a fuss over the GA Bulldogs whether they won or lost.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026 from the Fairfield Baptist Church 28 Rock Quarry Rd, Danielsville, GA 30633 at 1:00pm.
