Julius "Moon Man" Stinson Jr.

Julius Robert Stinson, Jr., 79, of Phenix City and passed on April 8, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in the C. T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Fortson, officiating. Burial in Old Cemetery at St. Peter A.M.E. Church, 5295 Sandfort Road, Seale, AL. Public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the funeral home.

Julius Robert Stinson, Jr., affectionately known for his warm spirit and welcoming nature, was born on September 28, 1946, to the late Julius Robert Stinson, Sr. and Bertha Lee Flakes-Stinson. He peacefully transitioned on April 8, 2026, at the age of 79 in Columbus, GA.

Julius was a proud graduate of South Girard High School. He dedicated many years of hard work and service as a production worker for Desoto and the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, where he was known for his strong work ethics and reliability.

Julius was a man who truly enjoyed life. He had a deep love for sports, especially cheering on all things Georgia, including the Falcons, Bulldogs, Hawks, and Braves. He love to bowl and played in the Peach Bowl Tournament in 1988-87. He also found joy in watching classic western movies, playing card games with family and friends, and showcasing his cooking skills in the kitchen. His loving personality, combined with his wonderful sense of humor, made him unforgettable. Julius never met a stranger; he had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carrie Mae Ingram Person Stinson; his son, Jimmy Person; his parents, Julius Robert Stinson, Sr. and Bertha Lee Flakes; and his brothers, Frankie, Freddie, Joseph, and Donald Stinson.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving children, Tracy (Elickku) Person and Ronald (Quleria) Person; his brother, Terry (Angela) Stinson; and his sisters, Roberta (Nathaniel "Ted") Hall, Janie (E.J.) Cochran, Nellie Louise Stinson, and Christine (Royce) Pickett. He also leaves behind his beloved aunt, Mary Brooks. Julius's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Antwuan Williams, Lakesha Person, Mykeece Reid, Keirra Person, and Nyla Person; his great-grandchild, Kairsen Person; three special sisters-in-law, one special brother-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews other close relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
