Mrs.Bettie Ann James, 80, of Fort Mitchell, AL passed on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Friday, May 1, 2026 at St. John AME Church, Ft. Mitchell, AL with Dr. Isaac Hudson, officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m EST on Thursday, April, 30, 2026 at Taylor Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bettie Ann James was born on January 13, 1946, in Fort Mitchell, Alabama to the late Bartow James and Fannie Mae James. She transitioned to her heavenly home on April 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her father and mother, she was proceeded in death by her husband Oliver James; two siblings: Ethel Davis of Brooklyn, New York and Rosie Thornton of Columbus, Georgia and a loving grandson, Desmond James of Phenix City, Alabama.

Bettie accepted Christ at an early age and joined the St John AME Church of Fort Mitchell, Alabama where she served faithfully as a choir member and a member of the stewardess board. She was employed for 25 plus years at Billington (Housekeeping) on Main Post of Fort Benning, Georgia. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and collecting family portraits and dolls.

Bettie memories will be cherished by her three children; Derrick (Lucy) Lamar James of Phenix City, AL, Rodney (Letitia) Keith James of Phenix City, AL, and Darrell (Angela) Terrell James of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Emma Day of Phenix City, AL; one brother-in-law, Jesse Trotman of Phenix City, AL; three nieces: Towanna Thornton of Columbus, GA, Pamela Day of Phenix City, AL, Yolanda Knight of Brooklyn, NY, two nephews; Walter Davis of Ellicot City, MD, Reginald Day of Phenix City, AL; six grandchildren; Stephanie Thomas of Kennesaw, GA, Shanteria Hood of Phenix City, AL, Octavia Jones of Phenix City, AL, Derrick James of Huntsville, AL, Zykeria James of Columbus, GA; Marquias Walker of Marianna, FL; great-grandchildren, great-nephews, great-nieces, host of cousins and friends.
