Mrs. Sarah Jean Watson, 74, of Ft. Mitchell, AL, passed on Monday, July 6, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Uchee Chapel AME Church, with Rev. Keith Baker, Pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Taylor Funeral Home.

Sara Jean Jones Watson was born October 24, 1951, to the late Clifford Jones and Lillie Mae King Jones. She departed this life on July 6, 2026, at Piedmont Hospital, Columbus, GA.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Uchee Chapel AME Church under the leadership of Reverend Henry Bell. Sara was raised in a loving family rooted in faith, hard work, and compassion. She carried forward the values instilled by her parents throughout her life, touching countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.

She graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1971 and soon moved to Chicago, Illinois where she spent over 40 years until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. parents, Clifford Jones and Lillie Mae King Jones, and her Grandparents George King, Lillie B. Newsome King and Sara Phillips Jones.

Sara found joy in sending time with her family, sharing laughter, offering words of encouragement, and celebrating life's special moments. She was know for her caring spirit, warm smile, and willingness to help anyone in need. Her home was a place of love and comfort, where family was always welcomed with open arms.

Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved parents, spouse and all those who have gone before her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Mrs. Watson is survived by one brother, Matthew (Anne) Jones of Midland, GA.; four sisters, Lillie Scott, Christine Allen, Linda Grooms of Ft. Mitchell, AL., and Debra (Willie) Themes of Fayetteville, NC.; one bonus sister-in-law, Connie Holloway of Phenix City, AL; two uncles, Arthur (Teresa) King of Chicago, IL., and Johnny King, of Omaha, NE.; two aunts, Mary Davis of Denver, CO., and Geneva Burton, of Chicago, IL.; three nieces, Cassie (Anthony) Miller of Fayetteville,NC., Latasha Williams of Upper Marlboro, MD., Queaner (Kevin) Ray of Pace, FL.; five nephews, Telly Allen of Hattiesburg, MS., Travis Allen of Phenix City, AL., Taveon Themes of Wilmington, NC., Braxton Jones of Norfolk, VA., and Tyler Jones of Montgomery, AL.; devoted friends, Carolyn Chadwick and Johnnie Mae Jackson both of Columbus, GA.; a host of devoted family from Chicago, IL.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
