Mrs. Sharon Thomas

Passed 06/27/2026

Sharon Shelisa Thomas received the gift of life on June 22, 1976 to Exie Lee Smith and Charles Henry Peterson.

Sharon was a member of Greenwood Chapel Church and attended Malone High School. She was self-employed and enjoyed shopping, dining out, working crossword puzzles, spending quality time with her family, and conversing with friends.

Sharon was a kind and loving daughter, mother, sister, and friend whose love touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a beautiful smile that could light up any room, and wherever she was there was never a dull moment.

Sharon had a remarkable way of bringing laughter, joy, and warmth to every gathering. She was known for speaking her mind and had a sharp tongue at times, but everything she said and did came from a place of honesty and intention.

Sharon lived life on her own terms, loved deeply, and made lasting impressions on all who crossed her path.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Thomas, Sr., and her brother, Willie J. Williams.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving mother, Exie Peterson Malone; children, Kiswana (Antoineus) Gaines of Dothan, Alabama, Crystal Kirkland of Dothan, Alabama, Ja’Quarius Leggett of Greenwood, Florida, and Stephanie Thomas of Dothan, Alabama; bonus children, Steve Thomas, Jr., Terry Thomas, James Thomas, and Jason Thomas, all of Bascom, Florida; two grandchildren, Arielle Leggett and T’raji Ford; brothers and sisters, Donald Peterson (Alurie), Calvin Peterson (Trisha), Angela Bowers (Bobby), Tiwania McGriff, Charles Peterson, Jr. (Shawna), Jasma Peterson (Katherine), Matthew Speights, Tiffany Peterson, Jason Peterson, Kevin Peterson, and Tabitha Peterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

Sharon was loved by many, and her memory will forever be treasured by her family and friends. While we will miss her presence more than words can express, we find comfort in knowing that her love, her wisdom, and the countless memories she created will remain in our hearts forever. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, and she will never be forgotten.
