Remembering Lambert

On Monday, July 6, 2026, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend peacefully entered eternal rest. Lambert’s journey through life was filled with love, laughter, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family.

Lambert Cornelius Anderson, Sr., the beloved son of the late Wallace E. Anderson, Sr., and Allie B. Person, was born on April 9, 1943, in Washington, D.C.

It was in Washington, D.C., where Lambert crossed paths with Linda E. Tucker, the love of his life, his bride and devoted wife of 60 years. Together they shared the joys and challenges of life’s journey while building a loving home centered on faith and family. Their union was blessed with two children, Sonja and Lambert Cornelius Anderson, Jr. Lambert was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother and uncle, and a cherished friend to many.

Lambert attended the District of Columbia Public Schools before continuing his education at Montgomery Junior College and Howard University. Throughout his distinguished career in the retail industry, he exemplified dedication, professionalism, and integrity. He faithfully served customers through Woodward & Lothrop, Hecht’s, and Macy’s in the Washington metropolitan area. After an outstanding 49-year career with The May Company, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and commitment.

Lambert received his early Christian education at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where he attended Sunday School, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized. Although he did not officially unite with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, until October 2024, Lambert faithfully supported his wife, children, and grandchildren in their Christian walk and church life for more than 47 years. His quiet faith, steadfast encouragement, and unwavering presence were a blessing to all who knew him.

A gifted athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast, Lambert was a devoted fan of Washington’s professional sports teams, including the Redskins (now Commanders), Wizards, Nationals, and Capitals. His love for athletics began at an early age, where he excelled in track and football at Roosevelt High School, setting numerous city-wide track records in Washington, D.C. He continued playing football in college before discovering a lifelong passion for tennis. Lambert became an active member of the USTA Senior Men’s Tennis Team and enjoyed many years on the court.

In his later years, Lambert found great joy in fishing with his father and brothers-in-laws. Some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors, creating lasting memories while teaching his son and grandchildren the art of fishing. His patience, wisdom, and love for family were reflected in every lesson he shared.

Lambert leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving and devoted wife, Linda E. Anderson; his daughter, Sonja M. Moody (Will); his son, Lambert Cornelius Anderson, Jr.; three beloved grandchildren, Sierra, Simone, and Jeremiah; two sisters, Donna Anderson (Michael) and Joy Lee; his stepfather, Rev. Dr. Curtis W. Bagley, Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Donald Tucker (Barbara) and James Tucker (Carylotta); one sister-in-law, Yvonne Anderson; John Moody; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Wallace E. Anderson, Sr. and Allie B. Person; his brother, Wallace E. Anderson, Jr.; and his brothers-in-law, Ronald Tucker, Horace Hewlett, and Harold Hewlett.

Lambert made a lasting impact on countless lives through his quiet strength, humble spirit, unwavering love for his family, and steadfast faith. His kindness, generosity, wisdom, and gentle presence will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
