Funeral service for Clara V. Murphy 84, will Saturday, July 18, 2026 at noon at the Rest Haven Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Katina Prince, officiating. Interment will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery. Mrs. Murphy passed away on July 12, 2026 at Anniston Health and Rehab. Mrs. Murphy's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to her service.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Rest Haven Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the choir, on the trustee board, usher board from 1972 until the Lord called her home. Mrs. Murphy worked as a substitute teacher for years, worked at NEAUCP Center (Cerebral Palsy) for 15 years and worked for JC Penney's where she retired. During her retirement she enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family. She was dedicated to having fun in her new home at Noland/ Anniston Health Facility playing bingo with the other residents where she won Valentine Queen, Resident of the month for May and made the Anniston Star Newspaper for open house in 2025.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph W. (Carla) Baker, Gerald Murphy Sr.; grandchildren: Jessica Baker, Terria Ingram, Sherese Ingram, and Gerald Murphy Jr.; great grandchildren: Jaiyla, Masiah and Kashton, her sisters: Emma Smith, Ruth Johnson Price, Denise Johnson; brother: Harding Johnson Jr., nieces, nephews, foster children and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harding Johnson and Emma Lucille Palmore, her husband, Zebedee Murphy Jr, and sister, Patsy Knight.
