Mrs. Katie Brown Hope transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on July 4, 1941, the daughter of the late Irene Douglas and James Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Willie D. Hope, Sr.; her siblings, James (Bill) Fairley, John Henry Fairley, and Louise Patterson.
Katie was a loving and caring person, and cooking was her true passion. Nothing brought her more joy than hosting family gatherings on Sundays and during holidays. Every Sunday, without exception, she would wake up at 5 AM to start preparing dinner, ensuring that everything was ready to serve when her family arrived.
In her moments of relaxation, she found solace in her favorite soap operas, "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." She was profoundly loved by many for her caring nature and the warmth she brought into their lives.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her children: Pernell (Valeria) Douglas of Winston-Salem, NC; Sharon Lee Douglas; Willie D. Hope, Jr. (Tammy); and Tyrone Hope, all of High Point, NC. She also leaves behind her siblings: Berlean Patterson (Tracy), Levon Fairley, and Will Lee Fairley; her special goddaughter, Kristine Dungee; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 31, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
