Reverend George Bernard Rorie was born December 17, 1958 to the union of Joshua Rorie, Sr. and Arie Harris Rorie in Lilesville, NC. Reverend Rorie departed this life on July 20, 2026 at his home, 1470 White Store Road, Wadesboro, NC.

Reverend Rorie received his formal education in the Anson County Schools and was a graduate of Bowman Senior High School. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at Henry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Lilesville, NC.

His last employment was at Valley Proteins where he worked faithfully for 8 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, playing pool and basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua Rorie, Sr. and Arie Harris Rorie; his son, Timothy Short and his daughter, Ashley Rorie; two brothers, Joshua Rorie, Jr. and Charlie Thomas Rorie; and one sister, Nancy Rorie.

Reverend Rorie leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Shelia Rorie; granddaughter, Chi’Tim Short; stepson, Walter Richardson; and godson, Jermyion Cash. His siblings: Dr. Marie Aldridge of Washington, DC, Bertha Gaddy of Ansonville, NC, Emma Gatewood (Clyde) of Charlotte, NC, Brenda Watson (Reginald of Cheraw, SC, Mary Little (Alvin) of Morven, NC, John Lee Rorie of Morven, NC, Walter Rorie (Rosa) of Lilesville, NC, Rev. Charles Rorie (Amy) of Rockingham, NC, Clarence Rorie (Barbara) of Charlotte, NC, and Richard Rorie (Hannah) of Clarksville, TN. Two aunts, Annie Mae Harris of Washington, DC and Janie Harris of Lilesville, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins

The Homegoing Service will be on Monday, July 27, 2026, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Henry Grove Baptist Church, Lilesville, North Carolina.

The family will greet family and friends on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 12:30-1:00pm and at all other times at the Rorie Homeplace, 3505 Vintage Road, Lilesville, North Carolina.

The public viewing will be on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 1:00-4:00pm.
