Constance A. Askew

Funeral service for Constance A. Askew 66, will be Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 3 pm at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where Pastor Carlton Phillips, officiating, Rev. Erik S. McClellan, eulogist. Interment will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Askew passed away on July 19, 2026 Regional Medical Center. Ms. Askew's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to her service.

Ms. Askew was a 1977 graduate of Anniston High School. She attended Gadsden Business College where she received a diploma in computer operating. She was a shipping clerk at Southern Tool and a stocker at Walmart, before moving to Greensboro, N.C., in 2009. Ms. Askew was assistant manager at a self-storage facility and later held manufacturing jobs in the Greensboro, N.C., area before retiring. While in North Carolina, she was involved in community outreach and children's ministry. She later joined Life Community Church in Jamestown, N.C., and the LIFE Prayer Warriors United prayer group there.

Survivors include her daughter: Nishaka Askew Proctor: sons: Quenton Askew and Markelle Askew; sister: Clara Roberts (Tom); brothers: Charles Whatley (Marilyn) and Gregory Whatley; former spouse and friend: James Askew III; sisters in-law: Angela Whatley and Ann Askew; brothers in-law: Curtis Manning, Reco Askew and Joe Atchison; special friends: Marilyn Ashley, Karla Comer, Connie Larcher and Yolanda Clapp; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Joe, Sr. and Alice Juanita Whatley, sisters, Brenda Manning and Allene Bailey, brothers, Willie Joe Whatley Jr. and Donald Whatley, her in-laws, James Willie Askew II, Edith Mae Askew, Linda Gail Askew, Sandra Askew and Norris Askew.
