Mrs. Dorothy May Thompson was born on October 15, 1936, in Carthage, Mississippi, to the late Bobby Lee Brown and Mary Alice Brown. She peacefully departed this life surrounded by the love and memories of those who cherish her.

Dorothy attended Leake County Schools where she also graduated. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a faithful member of DeLydia Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith began a lifelong journey of service and devotion to God.

In 1956, Dorothy moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she resided for six months before relocating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She later returned to Kosciusko, Mississippi, where she met and married the love of her life, the late Elder Thomas Thompson, on March 9, 1957. To this loving union, two children were born: Larry Thompson and Zoreda Griffin.

Dorothy and Thomas made their home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they resided for 42 years before returning to Kosciusko, Mississippi, in 1996. During her years in Milwaukee, Dorothy was a faithful member of Christian Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently on the Mother Board and faithfully supported her husband in her role as First Lady.

Dorothy was a dedicated and hardworking woman who was employed by a University School in River Hills, Wisconsin, where she served as Head Cook for 35 years. She retired in 1996 after years of devoted service and commitment.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Lee Brown in Mary Alice Brown; her beloved husband, Elder Thomas Thompson; her daughter, Zoreda Griffin; her brothers, Bobby Brown, Charles Brown, and Dwight Brown; and her sisters, May Della Smith and Delores Wilder.

Dorothy's greatest joy was her family. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted son, Larry Thompson; five beloved grandchildren: Terrence Jones (Lakesha) Kosciusko, Mississippi; Antwan Thompson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Marva Thompson Banks (Yakee) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Eric Jones (Dinah) of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and Crystal Thompson Kidd (Richard) of Pascagoula, Mississippi. She also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, her devoted sister-n-law, Betty Brown, and her beloved daughter-in-law, Terry Stallworth Thompson, thought life circumstances changed over the years, Pastor Thomas Griffin and his wife Margaret Griffin remined a caring and devoted presence in Dorothy's life until her passing. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory.

Dorothy Mae Thompson's life was a beautiful example of faith, love, service, and dedication to family. Her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and loving heart will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
