Deaconess Vallentine Newton was born on January 13, 1960, in Hampton County, South Carolina, to the late Otis Dobson, Sr., and the late Wilean Dobson.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Long Branch Baptist Church in Gifford, South Carolina, where she began her lifelong walk of faith.
She was a proud graduate of Wade Hampton High School, Class of 1979.

On July 28, 1984, she married the love of her life, Deacon Alexander Newton. Their loving union was blessed with two daughters. In 1985, following her marriage, she united with Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully worshiped,
grew spiritually, and served alongside her church family for many years.

Deaconess Newton dedicated her life to serving and caring for others. She was employed by the Disability and Special Needs Board in Varnville, South Carolina,
for more than ten years, where she compassionately cared for individuals with special needs. She later served the students and staff of Wade Hampton High School in the school cafeteria, preparing meals with the same love and kindness she extended to everyone she met. She concluded her career with the Hampton County School District, faithfully supporting and assisting students with special needs while lending a helping hand wherever she was needed until her
retirement.

Above all, Vallentine was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished family member, and faithful friend. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved. She had a passion for cooking, tending to beautiful flowers, dancing, and filling
every room with laughter. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and wonderful sense of humor made everyone feel welcome, for she truly never met a stranger. Her
generous heart, compassionate nature, and unwavering faith in God left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

“Val,” as she was affectionately called, lived a life that beautifully reflected love, faith, compassion, and selfless service. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and grace will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, church family, and all whose
lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Deaconess Vallentine Newton peacefully entered into eternal rest, surrounded by the love of family and sustained by the promises of God.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: (2) Brothers: Isaac Dobson and Willie Dobson; (1) Sister – In – Law: Dana Dobson.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever treasured in the hearts of her loved ones: Loving and Devoted Husband: Deacon Alexander Newton; (2) Daughters: Alexandria Newton and Jalissa Newton; (2) Grandsons: Quinton Smalls
Jr. and Ahmad Smalls; (1) Great–Grandson: Kyrie Smalls; (4) Brothers: Oscar Dobson, Otis (Debra) Dobson Jr., Marion (April) Dobson, Darnell Dobson; (2) Sisters: Adeline (Norman) Council and Myrtis (Frank) Williams; (2) Brothers – In – Law: Arthur (Gail) Newton and Ralph Newton; (4) Uncles: EJ, Dennie, Bobby, and Johnny Smoaks. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and sympathizing friends.
