Mr. Leon Chambless

06/20/1962 - 07/29/2026

Mr. Leon Chambless was born on June 20, 1962, in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Frances Eugene Love Chambless and the late Mr. Johnny James Chambless. At an early age, he joined Springfield Baptist Church.

Leon received his early education in the public schools of Upson County. He attended Pike County High School and Upson High School. While in high school, he enjoyed playing basketball, and his love for the sport continued throughout his lifetime as he faithfully followed the game.

In his younger years, Leon enjoyed swimming in the creek and taking long walks. In his later years, he enjoyed watching television and keeping up with the Cash 3 lottery drawings. Although he did not play the lottery, he enjoyed seeing what numbers were drawn each day. Most importantly, Leon cherished spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Eddie Ruth Ellerbee, Myrtis Nelson, and Catherine Anderson; and two brothers, Bobby Chambless and J.C. Martin.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and entered into eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Parks of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Barbara Jean Parks and Mrs. Audrey (Johnny) Shields, both of Atlanta, GA; six brothers: Mr. Roy Chambless, Mr. Eddie James Chambless, both of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Willie Clarence Chambless, Mr. Charles (Kathleen) Chambless, Mr. Lester (Katrina) Chambless, all of Thomaston, GA, and Mr. Richard Collier of Jackson, GA; one aunt, Mrs. Mary Ella Harris of Zebulon, GA; one devoted niece, Ms. Kinsley Woodard of Thomaston, GA; two devoted cousins, Ms. Aileene Malone of Homestead, FL and Minister Glenn Sanford of Miramar, FL; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
