George “Sonny” Arliss Murphy, Jr., 80, transitioned Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Brookstone Living Center, Pollocksville, NC.

His service is 1:00 PM., Saturday, August 29, 2026, Oscar's Memorial Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Renee Murphy, of the home; two sons, George Murphy, III., and Joseph Murphy; four daughters, Theresa Murphy, Jean Asiedu, Inyoca Holloway and Shaneika Murphy; two brothers, William Staten and Walter Hogan; three sisters, Mary Green, Edna Massey and Esther Burton; sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
