On the morning of August 11, 2026, Treva Jo Fitts, 90, transitioned into the embrace of her Savior to dance with abandon on the streets of heaven. She was a beloved wife, mother, Nonnie, sister, and friend. Although she had spent the majority of her life in the Bowie, Texas area, she had lived in Decatur, Texas for the past eleven years.

Born on November 24, 1935, in the Post Oak, Texas area, she would later meet and marry Paul Fitts on April 4, 1958. Treva was preceded in death by her father and mother, Orville and Gladys Leek; her husband, Paul Fitts; her son-in-law, Billy Rutherford; and her grandson, Kaleb Rutherford.

Treva was a longtime employee of the First National Bank of Bowie. She was an amazing cook and loved reading. For years, she displayed her natural creativity by fashioning furniture and other items out of wood. And, oh, the joy Treva and Paul had traveling in their RV and playing train dominoes with the friends they made along the way!

Her greatest desire was to be joined in heaven by each of her dear ones that she leaves behind: her brother, Allen Leek; her sister, JoAnn Bateman; her daughters, Debra Denson (David) and Paula Rutherford; her son, Barry Fitts (Wendy); her much loved grandchildren: Kasey (Shannon), Betsy (Roy), Kristan (Chris), Tyler, and Paula-Beth (Michael); and fifteen great grandchildren: Selah, Karis, Kempsey, Jaycee, Rickee, Davee, CJ, Kase, Karson, Kennan, Karter, Lucy, Gabriel, Annie, and Evangeline.

While we grieve her passing, we know that she has never been more alive than she is now! No service is planned, but our lives will be daily lived in celebration of her…
