CHURCH POINT – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 693 N. Main St., Church Point, LA for Ms. Gertie Mae Bellard, 85, who entered eternal rest on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.

Fr. Chrysanthus Ugorji will be officiating the funeral mass.

Ms. Bellard was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Lucy Court #79 of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary.

Ms. Bellard’s memories are being cherished by: her son, Patrick (Lorna) Bellard of Arlington, TX; two daughters, Charlotte Bellard and Jacquana Bellard, both of Pearland, TX; one sister, Virgie Bellard of Church Point, LA; two grandchildren, Jaedon Compton and Raven Bellard; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Jacque “Jack” Bellard and Alphosine Chavis Bellard; six brothers, Ernest Bellard, Thomas Bellard, Linus Bellard, Joseph Felix Bellard, Zachary Bellard and Joseph Oneal Bellard; two sisters, Josephine Bellard and Celestine Guidry; and her grandson, Trevis Bellard.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.
