Funeral service for Chauncey Summers, 48, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Mark A.M.E Church, 4141 Anderson Road, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Jonathan Benton will officiate.

Mr. Summers, who passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born April 30, 1978, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, August 14, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Summers will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory: three sisters, Briggett Summers (Roderick Shealey Sr.) of Tallassee, AL, Tawana Summers-Avery (Tyrone Tolbert) and Artreja Summers both of Opelika, AL; special cousin as a sister, RoMonica Harris of Opelika, AL; two aunts, Hattie (Lenell) Harris and Patricia Coleman both of Opelika, AL; four nieces, Ja’Meeka Summers, Tia Avery, Kaitlynn Summers and Laila Summers all of Opelika, AL; two nephews, Lacarious “Terrell” (Ta’Mia) Avery and Travis Avery, Jr. both of Opelika, AL; three great-nephews, Jayce Summers, Tristian Avery and Jeremiah Collier all of Opelika, AL; godmother, Barbara Wilson of Opelika, AL; special “Best” friends, Nora Beth (Tyler) Spalding of Smiths Station, AL; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family of the late Mr. Chauncey Jatavis Summers acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement.
