Major Leroy Mitchell Jr., a 75-year-old retired commissioned officer of the United States Army and the beloved husband of Frances Hudson Mitchell, peacefully passed away following an extended illness on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was surrounded by family members who loved him dearly.

Leroy is fondly remembered not only by his wife but also by his two sons, Bryan Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell (Sherita), as well as his bonus daughter, Ashlee (Jerrell) Cooper.
