Mr. Eric Torbert, 53, of Phenix City, AL passed on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST. Thursday, June 18, 2026 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial in West End Cemetery. Public visitation will be day of service 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Eric Torbert, the son of the late Gloria “Jean” Torbert and Willie “Plug” Dixon, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 10, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family, holding his hands as he transitioned to his new life.

Eric was known to family and some friends as “Maine Maine,” but he was best known throughout the city as “E.T.” He was loved and will be deeply missed. Many will remember him for his standout accomplishments on the football field while attending Central High School (Class of 1991). To others, he will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, father, cousin, and nephew. While he loved him some football (Roll Tide), he always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories: three loving and devoted sisters, Ericka Westbrooks and Kendra Torbert, both of Phenix City, AL, and Chrischelle Pickett of Seale, AL; one son, D'mazzio Hill of Columbus, GA; one nephew, Erin Torbert (Mary Robinson) of Phenix City, AL; two nieces, Journey Westbrooks of Phenix City, AL and Allanah Pickett of Seale, AL; one great-niece, Emory Torbert; a loving stepfather, Kenneth Doleman; two special aunts, Alice Torbert and Carolyn (George) Feaster of Columbus, GA; three uncles, William Johnson of Columbus, GA, Robert Johnson of Phenix City, AL, and Larry (Theresa) Tolbert of Hephzibah, GA; along with a host of other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Anna Harris of Columbus, GA.
