Dorothy L. Cook

Funeral service for Dorothy L. Cook 83, will be Sunday, June 21, 2026 at 2 pm at the First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sean McClellan, officiating. Interment will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook passed away on June 14, 2026 at Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cook's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to her service.

Mrs. Cook graduated from Edward Bell High School in 1960. And later graduated from Ayers Community College with a Child Development degree. She worked at Fort McClellan for 23 years and retired. Later she worked at TCR Child Care for 10 years and retired at age 75. She was a faithful member of First United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her children: Henry (Anita) Burton, Connie Dunn, Ronald Burton; stepdaughter: Teresa Merrick Morgan; her sisters: Barbara Murphy, Maggie Patterson, Joyce (Jake) Moss, Olivia Huntley, Gussie (Norman) Clifton, Debbie Lewis; her brother: Cecil Lewis; her grandchildren: Nakisha Hawkins, Krystal Smith, Jennifer Burton, Larnettra Corner, Sharee Dennard, Donterrious Turner, Jovarius Burton, Henry R. Burton Jr., Darain Smith, Larry Dennard Jr.; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Olivia Hicks Lewis, brother, Emmitt Lewis; nephew, Christopher Lewis, and sister in-law, Carolyn Lewis.
